Mais Al-Ghanim - lebanese restaurant, a classic, can't go wrong
Cafe Bazza - kuwaiti food with a bit of modern touch, solid choice
Fereej Suwaileh - classic kuwaiti cuisine, the best choice for any foreigner wanting to delve into kuwaiti cuisine

I second Freej Suwaileh, especially the Salmiya branch with the booths for families/mixed gender.

freej swailh in salmiya because of the environment, the food is not that good or clean,

Restaunts in mubarikiya al shimam for fish dalag shail for grills kooshari fatayer and others

Kuwait towers for the buffet,

for decent and clean Kuwaiti food, Arzaag which is near al muthana, its a hole in the wall tiny restaurant that is huge catering wise and has been the go to for home catering for years

now, what I find a great option is home ordering of mendi from mendiliouscus or mandina you can find them online, one of them actually shows you his daily process of getting the food and etc..

the boom, even though the food is very poor, your eating fancy in a wooden ship

for fancy Chinese peacock,

for Turkish grills (which has nothing to do with Kuwait) sultan chef

for seafood I'm not so sure BUT DO NOT GO TO FISH MARKET

for Thai food you have Ubon (Murooj and city), Thai king (rigae), and Oriental (dasman)

Steaks, Terrace grill or OFK (which has declined but still have some solid dishes that usain bolt past the their competitors and copiers)

Table Otto, St Al Makan, other restaurants at al shaheed park for fusion

Somo caffeine Vol1 Arabica for coffee they are acceptable for serious coffee snobs

Kuwait city has a few small restaurants in the Ahmad Al Jaber street I think its called opposite the material stores (Blockaat) in addition to the aqarat building next to mubarikya and Somo has a few restaurants and coffee shops where young restless Kuwait youth go spend their evenings with GIA as the highlight that has healthy food though a bit pricey,

urban café not sure what they have and whether its worth it but their instagram page looks nice and appetizing (Kuwaiti made)

Poele café check their dailys out on instagram have nice salads and food in general though pricey, in Kuwait city for a weekend afternoon or light brunch (Kuwaiti made, French cuisine focused chef from Dubai)

Coco room for breakfast, or table otto and al makan (All Kuwaiti made)

for Pizza you have two excellent places that offere award winning delicious pizza

the most famous one  solo pizza neoplitana in sharq (Kuwaiti Made)

and the equally excellent if not brilliant, pizzeria amami that have a not so good location, but actual Italians I the kitchen, their pasta is good aswell. make sure you try the calzone (Italian/kuwaiti made)

ice ream you have two places urban creamery, or ice creamery (not sure of the name)

but my recommendation is to take your friends through a journey of the greatness that is KDD ice cream soft serve and lu lu and silver and lulu cone and burqan and  all the others. Make sure they try KDD CHOCOLATE MILK

q café is a café/restaurant boutique that's nice and quiet yet has a very prominent location, as well baking tray for cookies, their food is a bit meh (Kuwait made)

ovo is close till septmeber for healthy food that tastes good and hurts your wallet (Kuwaiti made)

you have an Italian restaunt that I haven't tried yet called vigonovo, the chef is passionate about his food and he is actually from vigonovo in Italy  (Italian/kuwaiti made)

sushi, theres EDO and tatami and oiishii , edo is a bit fancy tatami (Kuwaiti made and chef) is less fancy but equally expensive,

em sheriff for Lebanese food and eating done right, you will pay around 25 each though (Franchise from Lebanon)

Burgers which is nearly everywhere in Kuwait, you have to look and choose your own, but I would recommend slider station, burger boutique and burger boutique black, the chef prices things well, and you get the feeling that he really cares about quality ingredients taste and environment, however there are quite a few excellent ones though much simpler (Kuwaiti made)

chocolate bar for desert is a good option,  (Kuwaiti made)

if they are from the states take him to the seaside mcdonalds and they will probably be impressed by how much cleaner and better smelling it is over here

you also have fast food five guys, elevation burger, wendys

many Indian restaurants I would look for the most Indian themed, jamawar, hotel Calcutta, Mughal mahal

that's all that comes to mind at the moment, please pardon he spelling and grammar mistakes

Just to clarify arzaag has dine in option

I would also add lets Barba new Kuwaiti hotspot, little rubys American italian,  shawarma Shuwaikh for shawarma,  Zaina pies is on 6alabat for fatayer, and mahamash is near q cafe for fatayer

Happy eating
