Can I travel to Dubai with my Kuwaiti driving license, instead of my National ID?

asked Aug 31 in Activities by Curiosity
My  civil iD is expiring in a couple of days while I am still in Dubai, would it be ok to use my Kuwaiti driving licenses as a traveling document to  re-enter  Kuwait?
Thanks

Your passport is your travelling document, not your Civil ID.

If you have traveled to Dubai with your Civil ID, you should not have been permitted to leave Kuwait or enter Dubai if your expiry date was very close to your travel. If you have been in Dubai for a long time, then it is poor planning from you and you must now go to the Kuwait consulate in Dubai and get a one-time travel document.

Your civil ID is just a concise form of your residency page on your passport.

Your residency expires = no entry into Kuwait.

If driving licenses had to be used in its place... several people would've legally left and entered Kuwait for the next 10 years without renewing residency, because that's how long some driving licenses are valid!

He's Kuwaiti, he doesn't need residency. They can travel from one GCC country to another I think with just their id card which why it might be possible to use his license.

1. As a GCC national you can travel with your Civil ID, I don't know anyone who bothers to use their passport when traveling the region

2. I doubt you can use your license even if it has the necessary info on it. In my experience, you literally can't use it for anything at all besides driving as far as I know. I've tried to use it at a bank to pull out cash/pick up my new card when my civil ID was being renewed and they wouldn't accept it (or my passport). They also didn't at a security booth, and I can't recall what else.

You can enter Kuwait with an expired document since you are Kuwaiti. you might get a slap on the wrist but you will sure be allowed to enter your own country.

This applies to every nationality at their home country as far as I know.

BS. You need a temporary travel document from the closest Kuwait embassy or consulate.
