Can I go to a barber (I'm "female")

asked Sep 14, 2017 in Grooming by anonymous
I have short hair and a basic cut that female hair dressers keep botching for 30 kd :/ Is it ok for me to go to a barber as a female and get a decent cut for less? I currently have a buzzcut that I do myself but will keep it a bit longer for the winter and don't really know how to cut that.
Thank you

No you can't, but quite a few men's barbers do home service as a side business, you will have to ask around though to find one.

there isnt a legal reason for them to refuse you but they might just be uncomfortable doing so maybe go during nonbusy times so you can talk to them first. i think your best option would be to go to one of those luxury mens salons and call ahead of time to clarify

Everything is legal unless you find a specific law that says it's illegal.

There are specific laws about women not being allowed into a men’s barber.  There are also specific laws that say no man can do hairstyling for women.  Yes these are official laws.  The Baladiya people actually deport you right away for these offenses.

Again, she is not really trying to save money, because there are cheap female stylist for the poorer people.

"...there are cheap female stylist for the poorer people."

It's going to take some time to get this comment out of my head!

I don't understand why humans find the urge to talk shit when it's uncalled for. I can see if the question aroused emotions but it was a simple question. Just answer the ? & keep your "know it all" attitude to yourself.

Hi there,

I used to be a barber back at home in Turkey when I was a teenager. Now I gave a different job here but I can cut your hair for you if you're still looking.

Don't have any gear though, so if you can provide them then I can definitely do the job.

Let me know
